CVE-2026-72694 2 Mrtgconfig, Redhat 2 Mrtg, Enterprise Linux 2026-08-20 7.1 High
A flaw was found in MRTG. When the MRTG daemon is started as a root user and subsequently drops privileges, a local, low-privileged attacker can exploit a symbolic link (symlink) following vulnerability. By influencing or pre-placing a symlink in the process ID (PID) file path, the attacker can trick the root process into changing the ownership of an arbitrary existing file to the daemon user. This can lead to local privilege escalation, allowing unauthorized access to or modification of sensitive files.
CVE-2026-76037 2 Google, Microsoft 2 Chrome, Windows 2026-08-20 8.4 High
Link following in CredentialProvider in Google Chrome on on Windows prior to 151.0.7922.169 allowed a local attacker to potentially execute arbitrary code outside the sandbox via a local program. (Chromium security severity: High)
CVE-2026-18267 2026-08-20 N/A
Kenwood DNR1007XR Firmware Update Link Following Code Execution Vulnerability. This vulnerability allows physically present attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations of Kenwood DNR1007XR devices. Authentication is not required to exploit this vulnerability. The specific flaw exists within the firmware update process. By creating a symbolic link, an attacker can abuse the service to move a file to an arbitrary location. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to execute code in the context of root. Was ZDI-CAN-28751.
CVE-2026-56796 1 Dell 1 Dell Command Update (dcu) 2026-08-20 6.6 Medium
Dell Command Update (DCU), versions prior to 5.7.1, contain an Improper Link Resolution Before File Access ('Link Following') vulnerability. A low privileged attacker with local access could potentially exploit this vulnerability, leading to Elevation of Privileges.
CVE-2026-47187 1 Libfuse 1 Sshfs 2026-08-20 9.3 Critical
SSHFS is a network filesystem client for connecting to SSH servers. Prior to version 3.7.6, a rogue SFTP server can return absolute symlink targets or relative targets containing parent-directory components that SSHFS passes through FUSE for resolution by the client kernel against the local filesystem. The documented transform_symlinks mitigation does not contain relative targets because transform_symlink() returns early at sshfs.c:2181, while sshfs_readlink() at sshfs.c:2234 to sshfs.c:2236 otherwise copies the server-supplied link target to the kernel. A victim or victim-side tool that follows such a link through ordinary operations such as cp, rsync, backup tooling, or an editor can disclose readable local files back to the server or write server-controlled content to writable local files, potentially including startup or scheduled-task files. This issue is fixed in version 3.7.6.
CVE-2026-55086 2026-08-19 4.2 Medium
Etherpad is a real-time collaborative editor. Prior to 3.1.0, src/node/handler/ImportHandler.ts and src/node/handler/ExportHandler.ts derive temporary filenames from Math.random() and place them in os.tmpdir(). On a host with a shared world-writable temporary directory, a local unprivileged attacker who predicts a filename can precreate a symbolic link to a file writable by the Etherpad process. Subsequent import or export operations can follow the link through fs.writeFile, fs.rename, or document-conversion output and overwrite the target with partially attacker-controlled content. This issue is fixed in version 3.1.0.
CVE-2026-63408 1 Getgrav 1 Grav-plugin-api 2026-08-19 7.5 High
Grav API Plugin is a RESTful API for Grav CMS that provides full headless access to your site's content. Prior to 1.0.0-rc.16, the Grav API plugin JwtAuthenticator::extractBearerToken() accepts a JWT from the token URL query parameter on every /api/v1 route, including state-changing endpoints. Request URLs consequently expose valid access tokens through Apache, proxy, and CDN logs, browser history, and Referer headers, allowing a party with access to those records to reuse the token with the owner's API privileges. This issue is fixed in version 1.0.0-rc.16.
CVE-2026-14966 2 Black Lantern Security, Blacklanternsecurity 2 Bbot, Bbot 2026-08-19 3.1 Low
BBOT's unarchive module rejects archives containing symlink entries before extraction, but for zip and 7z archives it failed to detect symlinks whose listing carries a DOS-attribute prefix before the unix mode, as produced by legacy versions of p7zip. Such an archive, downloaded and extracted during a scan (for example via filedownload), bypassed the guard and caused an attacker-controlled symlink to be written into the extraction directory. The effect is limited to planting the symlink (its target is not written through), and only hosts using such a legacy p7zip build are affected; current mainline 7-Zip is not.
CVE-2026-74492 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-08-19 8.4 High
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: netfilter: ipset: do not update comments from kernel-side hash adds mtype_resize() copies comment pointers with memcpy(), not the comment objects themselves. During the window after an entry has been copied but before the table swap and backlog replay, the old table is still published for packet-side updates while the replacement-table entry already holds the same ip_set_comment_rcu pointer. If xt_SET --add-set ... --exist hits that old entry in this window, mtype_add() calls ip_set_init_comment() even though packet-side adds carry no comment payload. That call frees the shared comment through the old entry, so the replacement-table entry now holds a stale pointer. When the queued add is replayed on the new table, mtype_add() calls ip_set_init_comment() again and strlen() dereferences the stale pointer. Fix this in mtype_add() by skipping ip_set_init_comment() when ext->target marks a packet-side add. Userspace adds still update comments, while packet-side adds can no longer free comment storage shared with a resize copy.
CVE-2026-74518 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-08-19 7.8 High
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mm/hugetlb: fix list corruption in allocate_file_region_entries() allocate_file_region_entries() tops up resv->region_cache with freshly allocated file_region descriptors. The allocation uses GFP_KERNEL, so resv->lock is dropped around it: the new entries are gathered on a stack-local list head, allocated_regions, and spliced into resv->region_cache once the lock is re-acquired. The splice used list_splice(), which moves the entries but does not re-initialize the source head, so allocated_regions is left pointing at an entry that now lives on resv->region_cache. The top-up runs in a while loop that re-checks the cache deficit after re-acquiring the lock. For a shared mapping the resv_map is shared by every mapper of the hugetlbfs inode, so a concurrent region_chg()/region_add()/region_del() on the same resv_map can consume cache entries during the unlocked window and force a second iteration. That iteration calls list_add() on the stale head and corrupts the list; with CONFIG_DEBUG_LIST the __list_add_valid() check trips: list_add corruption. next->prev should be prev (ffffc900011ff7f8), but was ffff88814c281460. (next=ffff88814c545640). kernel BUG at lib/list_debug.c:31! allocate_file_region_entries+0x191/0x420 region_chg+0x267/0x300 hugetlb_reserve_pages+0x387/0xc80 hugetlbfs_file_mmap+0x2ce/0x3f0 mmap_region+0x1348/0x1a80 do_mmap+0x85e/0xb90 vm_mmap_pgoff+0x18c/0x330 ksys_mmap_pgoff+0x2a1/0x3e0 do_syscall_64+0xd7/0x420 Without CONFIG_DEBUG_LIST the bad list_add() silently links a kernel-stack address into resv->region_cache, leading to later use-after-free. This was observed as a real host panic on a dense KVM host where a QEMU guest-RAM hugetlbfs file was mapped MAP_SHARED by both QEMU and a separate SPDK/DPDK vhost-user target, generating concurrent region_* traffic on one shared resv_map. Use list_splice_init() so the source head is re-initialized empty after each splice, making the retry loop safe.
CVE-2026-68407 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-08-19 5.3 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: nl80211: free RNR data on MBSSID mismatch nl80211_parse_beacon() rejects EMA RNR data when there are fewer RNR entries than MBSSID entries. The rejected RNR allocation has not been attached to the beacon data yet, so free it before returning the error.
CVE-2021-26889 1 Microsoft 9 Windows 10, Windows 10 1809, Windows 10 1909 and 6 more 2026-08-19 7.8 High
Windows Update Stack Elevation of Privilege Vulnerability
CVE-2021-26887 1 Microsoft 19 Windows 10, Windows 10 1507, Windows 10 1607 and 16 more 2026-08-19 7.8 High
An elevation of privilege vulnerability exists in Microsoft Windows when Folder redirection has been enabled via Group Policy. When folder redirection file server is co-located with Terminal server, an attacker who successfully exploited the vulnerability would be able to begin redirecting another user's personal data to a created folder. To exploit the vulnerability, an attacker can create a new folder under the Folder Redirection root path and create a junction on a newly created User folder. When the new user logs in, Folder Redirection would start redirecting to the folder and copying personal data. This elevation of privilege vulnerability can only be addressed by reconfiguring Folder Redirection with Offline files and restricting permissions, and NOT via a security update for affected Windows Servers. See the FAQ section of this CVE for configuration guidance.
