| A flaw was found in GDB's STABS debug format parser. The
read_member_functions() function in gdb/stabsread.c contains a linked
list removal bug in the code that separates destructor and non-destructor
member functions of C++ classes. The bug causes the destructor entries to
remain in the main function list while the list length counter is
decremented, resulting in an out-of-bounds write when the function list
is copied to its final allocated array. An attacker can craft an ELF
binary with malicious .stab and .stabstr sections that triggers this
out-of-bounds write when a user opens the file in GDB and performs any
symbol-inspection operation such as setting a breakpoint. The inferior
process does not need to be executed. Under controlled conditions, this
was demonstrated to achieve execution of arbitrary commands within the
GDB process. |
| Improper neutralization of special elements in data query logic in the GridFS component of the MongoDB C# Driver can cause a caller-supplied structured file identifier to be interpreted as a query condition rather than as a literal identifier. An authenticated user who can influence the identifier passed by an affected application may obtain stored file content beyond the intended target or cause all GridFS file chunks in the affected bucket to be removed, rendering stored file content unreadable. The affected rename operation may also rename a stored file other than the intended target. |
| Apache Polaris allows an authenticated principal with permission to create or update Iceberg table properties to set FileIO client settings such as s3.endpoint in table metadata.
In versions < 1.8.0, when Polaris performs server-side Iceberg operations, including commits and purges, it may use those settings to construct its (server-side) FileIO client. If the catalog storage configuration does not override the endpoint, Polaris can send storage requests to a host chosen by the table writer, using credentials scoped to the operation.
This can redirect server-side storage traffic and expose request authentication material to the chosen endpoint. Deployments are affected when table writers are not trusted to configure server-side storage endpoints. |
