CVSS v3.1 |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
mm/slub: reset KASAN tag in defer_free() before accessing freed memory
When CONFIG_SLUB_TINY is enabled, kfree_nolock() calls kasan_slab_free()
before defer_free(). On ARM64 with MTE (Memory Tagging Extension),
kasan_slab_free() poisons the memory and changes the tag from the
original (e.g., 0xf3) to a poison tag (0xfe).
When defer_free() then tries to write to the freed object to build the
deferred free list via llist_add(), the pointer still has the old tag,
causing a tag mismatch and triggering a KASAN use-after-free report:
BUG: KASAN: slab-use-after-free in defer_free+0x3c/0xbc mm/slub.c:6537
Write at addr f3f000000854f020 by task kworker/u8:6/983
Pointer tag: [f3], memory tag: [fe]
Fix this by calling kasan_reset_tag() before accessing the freed memory.
This is safe because defer_free() is part of the allocator itself and is
expected to manipulate freed memory for bookkeeping purposes. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
iommu/mediatek: fix use-after-free on probe deferral
The driver is dropping the references taken to the larb devices during
probe after successful lookup as well as on errors. This can
potentially lead to a use-after-free in case a larb device has not yet
been bound to its driver so that the iommu driver probe defers.
Fix this by keeping the references as expected while the iommu driver is
bound. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
Input: lkkbd - disable pending work before freeing device
lkkbd_interrupt() schedules lk->tq via schedule_work(), and the work
handler lkkbd_reinit() dereferences the lkkbd structure and its
serio/input_dev fields.
lkkbd_disconnect() and error paths in lkkbd_connect() free the lkkbd
structure without preventing the reinit work from being queued again
until serio_close() returns. This can allow the work handler to run
after the structure has been freed, leading to a potential use-after-free.
Use disable_work_sync() instead of cancel_work_sync() to ensure the
reinit work cannot be re-queued, and call it both in lkkbd_disconnect()
and in lkkbd_connect() error paths after serio_open(). |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
drm/xe/oa: Fix potential UAF in xe_oa_add_config_ioctl()
In xe_oa_add_config_ioctl(), we accessed oa_config->id after dropping
metrics_lock. Since this lock protects the lifetime of oa_config, an
attacker could guess the id and call xe_oa_remove_config_ioctl() with
perfect timing, freeing oa_config before we dereference it, leading to
a potential use-after-free.
Fix this by caching the id in a local variable while holding the lock.
v2: (Matt A)
- Dropped mutex_unlock(&oa->metrics_lock) ordering change from
xe_oa_remove_config_ioctl()

| PJSIP is a free and open source multimedia communication library written in C. Versions 2.16 and below contain a heap use-after-free vulnerability in the ICE session that occurs when there are race conditions between session destruction and the callbacks. This issue has been fixed in version 2.17. |
| SAMtools is a program for reading, manipulating and writing bioinformatics file formats. The `mpileup` command outputs DNA sequences that have been aligned against a known reference. On each output line it writes the reference position, optionally the reference DNA base at that position (obtained from a separate file) and all of the DNA bases that aligned to that position. As the output is ordered by position, reference data that is no longer needed is discarded once it has been printed out. Under certain conditions the data could be discarded too early, leading to an attempt to read from a pointer to freed memory. This bug may allow information about program state to be leaked. It may also cause a program crash through an attempt to access invalid memory. This bug is fixed in versions 1.21.1 and 1.22. There is no workaround for this issue. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
blk-crypto: make blk_crypto_evict_key() more robust
If blk_crypto_evict_key() sees that the key is still in-use (due to a
bug) or that ->keyslot_evict failed, it currently just returns while
leaving the key linked into the keyslot management structures.
However, blk_crypto_evict_key() is only called in contexts such as inode
eviction where failure is not an option. So actually the caller
proceeds with freeing the blk_crypto_key regardless of the return value
of blk_crypto_evict_key().
These two assumptions don't match, and the result is that there can be a
use-after-free in blk_crypto_reprogram_all_keys() after one of these
errors occurs. (Note, these errors *shouldn't* happen; we're just
talking about what happens if they do anyway.)
Fix this by making blk_crypto_evict_key() unlink the key from the
keyslot management structures even on failure.
Also improve some comments. |

Commit 3bc5e683c67d ("bfq: Split shared queues on move between cgroups")
changes that move process to a new cgroup will allocate a new bfqq to
use, however, the old bfqq and new bfqq can point to the same bic:
1) Initial state, two process with io in the same cgroup.
Process 1 Process 2
(BIC1) (BIC2)
| Λ | Λ
| | | |
V | V |
bfqq1 bfqq2
2) bfqq1 is merged to bfqq2.
Process 1 Process 2
(BIC1) (BIC2)
| |
\-------------\|
V
bfqq1 bfqq2(coop)
3) Process 1 exit, then issue new io(denoce IOA) from Process 2.
(BIC2)
| Λ
| |

bfqq2(coop)
4) Before IOA is completed, move Process 2 to another cgroup and issue io.
Process 2
(BIC2)
Λ
|\--------------\
| V
bfqq2 bfqq3
Now that BIC2 points to bfqq3, while bfqq2 and bfqq3 both point to BIC2.
If all the requests are completed, and Process 2 exit, BIC2 will be
freed while there is no guarantee that bfqq2 will be freed before BIC2.
Fix the problem by clearing bfqq->bic while bfqq is detached from bic. |

| A flaw was found in the ATA over Ethernet (AoE) driver in the Linux kernel. The aoecmd_cfg_pkts() function improperly updates the refcnt on `struct net_device`, and a use-after-free can be triggered by racing between the free on the struct and the access through the `skbtxq` global queue. This could lead to a denial of service condition or potential code execution. |
| A use-after-free vulnerability was found in drivers/nvme/target/tcp.c` in `nvmet_tcp_free_crypto` due to a logical bug in the NVMe/TCP subsystem in the Linux kernel. This issue may allow a malicious user to cause a use-after-free and double-free problem, which may permit remote code execution or lead to local privilege escalation. |
| A race condition was found in the QXL driver in the Linux kernel. The qxl_mode_dumb_create() function dereferences the qobj returned by the qxl_gem_object_create_with_handle(), but the handle is the only one holding a reference to it. This flaw allows an attacker to guess the returned handle value and trigger a use-after-free issue, potentially leading to a denial of service or privilege escalation. |
